MSNBC replays NBC's real time coverage of the World Trade Center tragedy on September 11 every year, I suppose. I watched it again this year, and as usual, cried my eyes out. It felt almost as fresh and raw as it was seven years ago when I, along with the rest of the world, watched the horrific events unfold. There's a certain poignancy in the re-watching, however, because you know how it ends. You know that many of those hoping that their loved ones survived would soon learn the devastating truth. You still struggle to cope with the knowledge that there are those "out there" whose white-hot hatred for America blots out all semblance of compassion, decency, sympathy, and humanity. We can NEVER afford to forget these lessons learned through the blood of innocents.
